The Insurance Fraud Association publishes independent news and plain guides about insurance fraud: the schemes to watch for, the warning signs, and the official places to report them.
Who we are
The Insurance Fraud Association is an independent news website about insurance fraud. We cover it in two ways:
- Explainers: how common schemes work, the warning signs, and the exact next step to report them.
- Insurance Fraud Association Weekly: one email every Tuesday with our newest stories and guides. Sign up at the bottom of any page.
What we are and are not
Our name says Association, so here is exactly what we are, and what we are not.
We are
- An independent news website about insurance fraud
- Plain explainers on how schemes work and the warning signs
- A guide to the official places that take reports
- Free to read
We are not
- A government agency, a regulator, a police unit or a department of insurance
- An insurance company: we sell no insurance
- A law firm: nothing here is legal advice
- A membership body: there are no members, dues or board
- The Coalition Against Insurance Fraud, or affiliated with any association
- A place to report fraud: the official channels are
How we report

- Official sources first. We report from official records and court documents, write every story in our own words, and link to the source so you can read it yourself. We never copy another site's text, images or logos.
- A charge is not a conviction. A charge, an indictment or a lawsuit is an allegation, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. We say so next to every list of cases.
- No named private people. We leave out headlines that name private individuals, and we never accuse a person or a company of fraud without a court record or an official release.
- Numbers with a source. Any cost, rate or statistic we print names where it comes from. If we cannot cite it, we do not print it.
- Pictures are labeled. Our images are stock photos or AI-generated illustrations, never pictures of a real case, and each one says so.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it. Email [email protected] with the address of the page and what is wrong. When we correct a story, we change the page and show the date it was updated.
Who runs the site
